reading

I love to read, have many re-read authors on my shelves... but, lately I wonder why every book has vampires.

Do we really need that many vampires? I like Single White Vampire (Lynsay Sands) and even southern baptist ones (Charlene Harris), Lui has some good plot lines, Keri Arthur isnt bad. BUT David Weber?

Years ago I read P.C. Cast's goddess series and it was good. BUT, no not these vampires. Dont like the Twilight ones ... Stephanie Meyers? and then there are more and I stopped looking.

So, currently due to person needs I am Listening to David Baldacci stories as I finish my work for the season. Spy novels, political fiction novels used to be I read them on an airplane but, today I dont fly anywhere.

And, come spring back to SF, hoping for some good plot lines and themes without the rescue from Vampires!

random

Watching Rachel Ray on Monday and a couple; with a lot of kids, was on showing how to decorate for Cchristmas cheaply (or cheekily). Their son created a peace sign from twigs and pronounced it a true spirit of Christmas. Darn doesn't anyone remember that the peace sign was an inverted and broken cross?

Doesn't it bother anyone else that the symbols of faith that were descreated are now "wonderful" symbols??

oh well, I guess age is becoming a friend/enemy

Abandonment issues on Exit 79

Yesterday, driving home from town I saw a sad sight. Propped up against the stop sign was a small stuffed dog the kind that is a child's favorite. It was so sad looking that the loved child had left it behind.

Our exit has seen a few abandoned animals. There were the 2 german shepherd puppies who wouldnt let me or another neighbor touch them by the time I got back with treats they were dead. Struck by vehicles on the freeway.

Then there was the young gelding that was dropped off by their owner at the exit in terrible shape. We called the Dept. of Agriculture and they came out with a trailer and saved the poor things life.

I worry occassionally I will see and elderly person or a very young person abandoned at exit 79.
